Vaidya Dhirendra Joshi delivered his presidential speech and told that the aims of this organization is, research in Ayurved, treatment of sufferers, education of Ayurved, and propagation of Ayurved. To fulfill this purpose this organization has planned national and international conferences every year.
We have to encourage our younger generation to study and practice Ayurved. We have to enlighten them for research work according to the Ayurvedic way. To my mind this is the basic requirement to propagate and popularize Ayurved. We have to create demand for Ayurved. For this purpose we have to give promising result in challenging diseases. I am sorry to say that we are lacking in creating and preserving records - data. We have to give documentary proof of our results to this scientific world. And I believe that our young generation is efficiently able to do this all.
To day we are living in a scientific and technological world. All the modern facilities of modern technology are available. We must have to apply this technology in our field. We must have to come out from orthodox believes. Because it comes in the way of our progress.
Since 1956 the shuddha Ayurvedic course is implemented in India. Then since 1965 after formation of Gujarat Ayurved University Jamnagr, the degree and post graduate course is being conducted by the university. Then, in 1970 the Central Council for Indian medicine is formed and they formed a common syllabus and applied in all over the country.
Main purpose of this course was to prepare Ayurvedic physician – practitioners for the better and cheaper medical services of the people of the country, particularly the people of rural area.
But unfortunately it failed to achieve the goal. Our majority graduates are practicing in Allopathic medicines. To my mind this is not the fault if our graduates. Present educational system has not created confidence in them to practice in Ayurved. This educational system is lacking some thing some where.
Research in Ayurvedic regimen and prevention of diseases by Ayurvedic methods needs a special attention. This aspect of Ayurvedic research is really very important from the point of view of maintenance of public health. The concepts of Ayurved and prevention and cure of epidemic diseases by Ayurvedic method are some of the very important venues for research, in this field. Ayurvedic clinical research need be carried, on an extensive scale.
This all things should be considered seriously; otherwise the future of Ayurved will be dark. Ayurvedic education, Ayurvedic practice and Ayurvedic research are the inter dependant and complimentary. |
